Java Jamboree

Today was the day...Java Jamboree has came & went and it was a fun event, full of conversation and caffeine! I was the host for this Sunday afternoon coffee & dessert extravaganza and would like to share some highlights from the day
Hubbard & Cravens which is a local coffee company & shop, generously donated all the coffee for the event. I even got to meet with Liz, Hubbard & Cravens Office Facilitator and get a crash course in coffee. There is/was so much I had no idea about and it was crazy interesting. This coffee company has 2 shops...one in Broadripple, IN & the other across the street from where I work in Carmel, IN. Its such a nice place (if you haven't been there, I suggest you go, it is beautiful inside & the flatbreads are amazing). Coffee is like wine...it has so many different tastes...acidity..aromas...flavors...so we decided to use this coffee for a tasting...also known as "coffee cupping".

The whole beans of the 3 coffees we tasted
-Bali Blue Moon- Origin: Bali
-SoBro Blend- Origin: S.W. Pacific
-Oakland Estate- Origin: Kenya
(Also the green coffee beans that have not yet been roasted, when roasted puff up like popcorn.)

Hubbard & Cravens was kind enough to donate these sample bags of the 3 coffees as well.

I made coffee menus, with each coffee's info & origin. Hubbard & Cravens does "direct trade" with their farmers so there is no middle man. (& no pesticides)

Gigi's cupcakes also helped with the event. They were wonderful to work with & their cupcakes were fabulous!

Aleks was the winner of my coffee themed giveaway!

Here is the table runner I made out of craft paper, coffee & coffee mugs

and every time I searched "coffee" on pinterest...vintage pics of celebs came up so I figured I'd just frame them and set them out on my coffee themed table.

The event was very fun and interesting to see what coffee we liked best...mine was definitely the "Oakland Estate".....smooth and a bit strong but not too acidic and had a good after taste...I hope this inspires people to try a coffee tasting of their own and don't forget to visit "
