Aquage Masterclass Academy

Last weekend was a whirlwind of education, inspiration & amazement. I along with 4 other designers from Salon 01 attended the Aquage Masterclass Academy in Chicago, IL. Basically, its a 2 day training academy where you learn from some of the best hair designers in the world and work one on one with them in a classroom setting. The first day was all long hair dressing (updo's, braids, twists, waves). The second day was all hair cutting (detailing, texturizing, razor cutting). It was very fast paced..they would do something for 15-25 mins...then we would go and work on a mannequin and attempt to do the same thing for about the same amount of time..but they would walk around and help us. I learned a lot and felt very inspired in my hair dressing as well as in my photography..(we had a bonus class where Luis Alvarez (the head of Aquage) photographed part of his series of ballet dancers in amazing handmade hair pieces. If you aren't familiar with Aquage or their products..head over to www.aquage.com to check them out...seriously, the best products/education ever. Plus, it was in Chicago and we got to go up a day early..and that was super fun too.

Our group with the extraordinary, Luis Alvarez

This is Ann Bray..she is fabulous, extremely sweet. (oh...& famous! (She is an internationally renowned award winning hair dresser & did Effie's hair for "The Hunger Games"..she is working on "Mockingjay" right now!)
with Eric Fisher...such an awesome guy..and EXTREMELY talented! (Luis Alvarez in the back being silly)

I feel very fortunate to have been able to attend this spectacular weekend. I took a lot away from it and if you are a hair dresser...definitely think about going to the next Academy!
