Winter Mantle 2013

Today I decorated my mantle for winter...I do this for every season/holiday. I didn't want to do a christmas theme, because that means that I would need to take it down in 3 weeks! So I opted for a winter wonderland theme. I used some items I picked up at the French Fleamarket last summer as well as purchases from a 50% off sale on christmas items @ Michaels. I made the white pom pom balls using styrofoam balls that have been hot glued with cumpled coffee filters...I stuck these on top of 2 candle holders and voila, a nice accent to my winter mantle. I also hung ornaments on gold ribbon and taped them to the top of the mantle. For my mason jar snowglobe, I got some little faux, white trees at Hobby Lobby and a pair of cermaic children (these are for those light up christmas villages) and I hot glued some glitter as well as the trees and children to the lid of a mason jar-screw the jar back on the lid to create a faux snowglobe. I love the way it turned out. I hope this will give you some ideas for your winter mantle.
